Meanwhile, with all that's happening in the World, unfortunately, a tragic incident occurred in Sierra Leone. A young woman from Sierra Leone was sexually manipulated and betrayed. This devastating incident shifted her entire perspective on life.. At 18 years, she was full of ambitions, moving through the university in her early years, working hard to build a brighter future for herself in the field of education. During her early years, she crossed paths with a man by the name of Justice Momodu Jah Steven. He was more than 3 decades older than her. He is well respected, known by many, a sitting judge, a respected lecturer, and many people look up to him.

Jah Steven quickly came into her life as a mentor; she was very naïve. He promised to guide and mentor her in the world. Yet beneath all of these experiences lies a darker side of his life. What started as a mentorship slowly turned into a manipulation. This is not merely just a personal betrayal, but something that hits the entire community because he is a man of principle the community can rely on.

This hypothetical behavior of Steven is so unbelievable because he was publicly aligned with a program called OFF OUR GIRLS. This campaign was meant to protect young girls from the hands of predators like him. Sadly, during their private time they spent together, he became an example of what the entire program stands against. This incident sends a hurtful message to many parents in Sierra Leone that the protector can be a predator.

Betrayal

What happened between this young woman and Justice isn't any form of love or mentorship it was disguised as help but evil. Steven shows her out by praising her, buying her a lot of stuff, and telling her how he's going to leave his marriage to be with her. Edwina was lost in love. Justice Steven went as far as renting a place for her to stay. She was so caught up in the illusion of becoming a family and being loved by someone. Under all of these things, she got pregnant for him. Sadly, when he was done with her, he left her like a chapter you no longer want to read.

He quickly abandoned her, and it was just the beginning. With his power and influence he got in the community, he quickly turns against her. Local reports from Sierra Leone said he reported her to the police, and they humiliated her and discredited her just so he could protect his reputation. She was in so much physical and emotional pain, and came the disgrace from the community.

She realizes that she wasn't the only one affected by his betrayal, with much pain. Not knowing that Justice Momodu has been preying on her and her friends this entire time. She was so lost and in love, she thought she found the love of her life, but not knowing that this was a manipulative pattern by Justice Momodu, a systematic abuse of power by her own mentor that when across her entire classroom, including the courtroom.

In the eyes of such injustices, silence was no longer an option. An organization that is known for its work, fighting for women in Africa ( Female in Africa ), the Sierra Leone chapter stood up and said Enough is enough, and they declared their support for Ms. Edwina Hawa Jamiru. The message of the organization was very clear as crystal, Ms. Jamiru wasn't in this alone, this was a stand for every woman who is unable to fight the weight of power from men like Justice Momodu and his corruption.

Many allegations surrounded Justice Momodu’s courtroom; his behavior revealed an even darker version of him. Reports show he sent his clerk to do his bidding for him to proposition young women who appeared in front of him; reports show some of his rulings were tainted by personal favor from his friends rather than justice. When a man with so much power has been entrusted with the law, he becomes the lawbreaker himself, and all his verdict is cast into doubt.

The misconduct of Justice Steven has dishonored not himself but the very judicial system that is meant to serve and protect the citizens of Sierra Leone in truth and fairness. Cry for council in Sierra Leone is growing louder. Justice Momodu should pay for what he did to Ms. Jamiru. It's time to stand up and fight the system, a proverb rings out, we still put yams n' ar fire, en take wi yeyi idae fen nife, the battle is not over yet. We all must stand up and fight for our sisters and mothers out there; we must become the voice of the voiceless.
